In most cases, you’ll need a permit for a bathroom remodel in NYC. The required permits depend on the scope of your project. Typically, a full remodel will need Plumbing and possibly Electrical Permits. If you're making structural changes—like converting a tub to a shower, expanding the space, or changing the layout—you may also need an ALT-2 General Construction Permit from the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB).
